2010 Handspun Natural Fiber Competitions at the Missouri State Fair
Criteria for Judging Handspun Fiber Classes:
1. Preparation for Exhibit: a) 1 oz minimum weight; b)skeined and tied in at least 4 places; c)twisted into figure eight; d) general appearance of skein
2. Preparation of Fiber: a)absence of vegetable matter and dirt; b) no visible neps or noils (unless it is part of yarn design).
3. Technique: a)consistency in sett(gauge, twist, plying; b)no obvious joins, breaks, knots, etc (unless part of yarn design).
4. Suitability of yarn to intended use – State intended use of handspun yarns and answer any required questions on tag attached to skein without including your name or other personal information on this tag.
5. One entry per class permitted. New

“Pasture to Closet” – 100% handspun fiber (containing at least 50% llama fiber) crafted into a knitted, woven or crocheted wearable (sweater, vest, shawl, skirt, mittens, scarf, socks, etc) All work must be done by person entering the item. “Knittin’ Mittens” – Let the creative juices flow and the colors, too. Knit a pair of mittens using all natural fibers – wool, llama, alpaca, etc. They may be a combination of various natural fibers and may be dyed.
